5G Applications Have Been Integrated into over 60% of National Economy’s Major Categories

June 6th marks the fourth anniversary of the official issuance of 5G commercial licenses in China. Data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows that 5G applications have been integrated into over 60% of national economys major categories in the past 4 years.

China has built the largest and most technologically advanced 5G network in the world. By the end of April this year, a total of over 2.73 million 5G base stations had been built, 5G networks covered all prefecture-level cities and county-level cities across the country, and there were 634 million 5G mobile phone users. The basic telecommunications industry has invested nearly 600 billion Chinese yuan in the construction of 5G networks, directly driving a total economic output of about 3.8 trillion Chinese yuan and indirectly driving a total output of about 9.4 trillion Chinese yuan, which effectively promotes the development of digital economy.

At present, 5G applications have been integrated into 60 out of 97 major national economic categories, with the number of application cases exceeding 50,000. 5G integrated application solutions in key industries such as mining, ports and electricity have been widely replicated, helping various industries to accelerate the pace of digital transformation.

According to the introduction, Chinas mobile communication network has achieved the leap from "3G breakthrough", "4G synchronization" to "5G leading". China is now forward-looking in laying out cutting-edge technologies for the next generation of the Internet, enhancing China's digital infrastructure capabilities and serving the high-quality economic development.
